Paul Winkelman has provided the following clarification for the process of auditioning for a scholarship and placement on the UVU Ballroom Team:
“With the change of the audition process from live audition to DVD or Internet link I would to clarify how thee audition process will be handled this year.
- Have your students go to the UVU School of the Arts site and find the Scholarship tab
- Click on the Scholarship tab and find Dance tab
- Click on the Dance
- This page lists different scholarships student may apply for. At the top of the page it indicated that the Ballroom Dance portion of the audition will be a DVD or internet link. Please scroll down this page.
- Download Application for New Student Scholarship
- Please follow the instructions
- For the dance portion of the scholarship Submit application and a video, demonstrating two dances: International Latin (choose from cha-cha, samba or rumba) and International Ballroom (choose from waltz, tango or foxtrot). These two dances should be syllabus routines using bronze, silver or gold figures. Costumes are not allowed. Please upload your video as an unlisted or private link to the Internet (YouTube or Vimeo, etc.) and email the URL of the video to Paul Winkelman at Paul.Winkelman@uvu.edu no later than January 25, 2014.
- Important note
- Students that have participated in a high school or private studio performance team will also be auditioning for a placement on the company.
- Scholarships are awarded to members of the tour team. If your dancer is not awarded a scholarship, they will most likely be placed on the Back-Up Tour Team or Advance Back up Team.
We are excited your dancers are considering coming to UVU and participating in the Ballroom Program. If you have any questions please contact Paul Winkelman at paul.winkelman@uvu.ed or call 801-863-8754.”
